We are looking for experienced prep cooks who are leaders in the restaurant industry. The candidate must be used to working in a fast-paced environment and possess outstanding work ethics, as well as dynamic leadership skills.


Prep Cook Job Responsibilities:






  • Perform routine kitchen tasks
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and understand a prep sheet
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow a spec book
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment at all times
  • Ability to use different cooking technique to prepare food
  • Ability to store prep item correctly using food hierarchy
  • Able to label, date, and rotate prep items using FIFO
  • Ensure food is stored away properly when not in use
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and understand pull thaw sheets


Prep Cook Qualifications / Skills:






  • Experience working as a prep cook in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills
  • Good understanding of ingredients, recipes, kitchen safety, and hygiene
  • Passionate about culinary arts and creative cooking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with general kitchen equipment and appliances
  • Able to follow instructions accurately and efficiently
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques

Responsibilities
• Setting up and sanitizing work stations • Following prep lists created by chefs. • Measuring ingredients and seasonings, and preparing cooking ingredients such as soup stock to be used in the cooking process. • Preparing simple dishes, such as entrees or salads. • Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible. • Assisting chefs in preparing food and attending to any culinary tasks that arise. • Distributing plates to wait staff to be served, cleaning plates for dish washing, and preparing take away packages for customers. • Supervising food and cooling room temperatures. • Accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers. • Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen. • Preparing drinks and cocktails according to the chef's specifications.


Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent. • Culinary school training would be advantageous. • Experience as a prep cook may be advantageous. • Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives. • Strong team working and communication skills. • Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment. • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays. • Ability to work in stressful, fast-paced environment.
