Executive Chef

Grooves Of Houston in Houston, TX is looking for one executive chef to join our 101 person strong team. We are located on 2300 Pierce Street. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, ambitious, and hard-working.

Responsibilities

  • Train and develop chefs to company standards; opening, closing and preparation procedures
  • Maintain the integrity of current dishes and menu items
  • Ensure correct and consistent preparation and presentation of food items
  • Ensure orders are expedited correctly and efficiently to produce smooth kitchen flow to orchestrate timely service to customers
  • Create new dishes and menus in accordance with business needs
  • Anticipate ingredient needs and arrange re-stock accordingly
  • Ensure a productive kitchen flow that upholds business standards
  • Staffs the kitchen accordingly and ensures all staffing needs are scheduled appropriately, has a solution for any potential staffing shortages, conducts interviews
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory control
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead, coach, and counsel employees through the excellence of teamwork and culture
  • Create detailed tools, resources, timelines, and reference aids to organize kitchen operations, regular duties, ensure individual accountability, and consistently train staff
  • Enforces policies, compliance, and service standards; follows appropriate disciplinary action
  • Oversee maintenance and repairs of any kitchen equipment until completion

Qualifications

  • Experience working as a sous chef or chef
  • High familiarity with kitchen equipment, processes, and health and safety guidelines
  • Able to delegate tasks effectively and assist when needed
  • Adaptable to high traffic and kitchen volume
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal), maintains the highest culinary standards, works well under pressure, organized, flexible, self-motivated, and willing to work long hours
  • Understand all positions in the kitchen to support as necessary
  • Strong administrative, communication, and leadership skills
  • Financial understanding in food costs and minimizing kitchen waste
