SUMMARY OF POSITION
 

In accordance with the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward, the Sous Chef prepares hot and cold foods and supervises activities of food production involving planning, monitoring, processing and implementing established policies and procedures.  Adheres to standards and practices in compliance with regulatory agencies.  Responsible for supervising and training employees according to the policies and procedures of The Village of St. Edward. Works independently with little supervision.

 
Requirements:
  • Minimum two-year degree in culinary, hotel/restaurant or food services related areas of study or a minimum of five years prior experience in lieu of educational requirements.
  • Two years management/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must have Servsafe Certification or be trained within 3 months of obtaining position.
  • Possess and demonstrate the necessary dexterity to operate equipment, buttons, levers, etc.
  • Able to walk, sit and stand intermittently during the workday.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull 35-50 lbs. independently and over 50 lbs. with assistance on a regular basis.
  • Possess the ability to bend, stoop and reach at different angles.  
  • Must work with residents, families and public courteously and effectively.
  • ​Ability to read menus and production records.
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations.
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Exercises judgment in food preparation and presentation and employee relations.
