The University of Colorado System encompasses four campuses and more than 55,000 students. The Boulder campus, home to more than 30,000 students, provides some 2,500 courses in 150 fields through ten colleges and schools. The University of Colorado at Denver has an enrollment of some 17,000 and has 120 study programs at a dozen schools, and its nearby Anschutz Medical Campus serves more than 500,000 patients annually. The smallest campus, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, has six colleges with 8,500 students and offers about 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The system, which began in Boulder as the University of Colorado in 1876, has 4,000 faculty members.
